This guide applies to the following NVR's:

NVR6104E, NVR6208E, NVR6216E, NVR6832E & NVR6864E

This guide explains how to perform a factory reset on a LILIN NVR 6 Series. To complete the process, you will need a mouse and a monitor or TV connected to the NVR via the rear HDMI or VGA port.

If you are resetting the NVR 6 Series due to a forgotten password, make sure to follow Step 2, as this will assist with reconfiguring the NVR afterward.

If reconfiguration is not required, you can proceed directly to Step 3.

  1. Enter the NVR menu by clicking the ‘Cog’ icon in the top left-hand side of the screen. If you do not initially see the Cog icon, move the mouse to the top left of the screen and the icon should appear.

If you are prompted to enter a password when entering the NVR menu, please contact your local LILIN representative or raise a support ticket by clicking here.

2. Once in the NVR menu, it is recommended to take photos or write down all the information on the following menu screens:

Camera Menu’s - Each camera is unique so take an image of each channel being used from 01 to 16, displayed down the left-hand sub menu – It is recommended to make note of the username & password, failure to do so may result in having to factory reset each camera on the system if you no longer know the password. It is possible to view the password by clicking the show button to the left.

Network MenuEnsure you note down the NVR’s current IP address, gateway and DNS settings

DDNS Menu - This is located in the top menu bar under the network menu – It is also recommended to make a note of the DDNS password. Failure to do so will mean having to reconfigure the mobile app.

Alarm Menu - Check to see if any channels have alarms enabled, if so make a note of what is enabled on what channel.

Alarm Menu --> Output (Tab) - Check here to see if any alarms have been enabled, if any have they will usually be under the Notifications menu.

META DATA - Check and make note of channels with META data enabled. - You do not need to make a note of which settings are active, just which channels have META enabled.

3. Once all required settings have been noted down, the next step is to reset the NVR. To do this, select ‘System’ from the left-hand menu, then choose ‘Maintenance’ from the top menu.

4. Under the Maintenance menu, there are two options available for performing a factory reset:

Restore – Resets all settings to their default values, except for the IP address and monitor output resolution. The NVR will not reboot during this process.
(This is typically the recommended option.)

Default – Resets all settings to the original factory defaults. The NVR will automatically reboot and come back online with its default configuration.
