NVR 5 Series Factory Reset Guide

This guide applies to the following NVR's:

NVR5104E, NVR5208E, NVR5416, NVR5416E, NVR5832

This guide outlines the steps required to carry out a factory reset on a LILIN NVR 5 Series system. To complete the process, you will need a mouse along with a monitor or TV connected to the NVR via the rear HDMI or VGA port.

If you are performing the reset because you have forgotten the password, be sure to follow Step 2, as it will help you reconfigure the NVR afterward. If no reconfiguration is needed, you can skip ahead to Step 3.

If reconfiguration is not required, you can proceed directly to Step 3.

  1. To access the NVR menu, click the cog icon located in the top-left corner of the screen. If the icon is not immediately visible, simply move the mouse to the top-left area and it will appear.

If you are prompted to enter a password when entering the NVR menu, please contact your local LILIN representative or raise a support ticket by clicking here.

2. Once you are in the NVR menu, it is recommended to take photos or make notes of all settings on the following screens:

  • Camera Menus – Each camera is configured individually, so capture an image or record the settings for every active channel (01–16) listed in the left-hand sub-menu. Be sure to note the camera username & passwords. If these are not recorded, you may need to factory reset each camera if the passwords are lost. You can reveal the password by clicking the show button next to it.

  • Network Menu – Record the NVR’s current IP addressgateway, and DNS settings.

  • DDNS Menu – Located in the top menu bar under the Network section. It is recommended to note the DDNS password as well. Failure to do so may require you to reconfigure the mobile app.

3. Once all required settings have been noted down, the next step is to reset the NVR. To do this, select ‘System’ from the left-hand menu, then choose ‘Maintenance’ from the top menu.

4. Under the Maintenance menu, there are two options available for performing a factory reset:

Restore – Resets all settings to their default values, except for the IP address and monitor output resolution. The NVR will not reboot during this process.
(This is typically the recommended option.)

Default – Resets all settings to the original factory defaults. The NVR will automatically reboot and come back online with its default configuration.
