Stop TetherX Changing Camera Settings Automatically

If you connect a camera to a TetherX system and notice that the camera's settings are being changed automatically, this is typically caused by a configuration setting within the TetherX platform.

To prevent TetherX from applying its own recommended settings to the camera, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Locate the Camera in TetherX

There are several ways to find a camera within the TetherX platform. In this example:

  1. Click the Cog icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select Cameras from the menu.
  3. Use the filters on the left-hand side of the screen to locate the required camera.

Step 2: Open the Camera Settings

Once the camera is visible in the camera list:

  1. Click on the camera name.
  2. A new settings window will open.

Note: In the example shown, the camera name is configured as the final digit of the camera's IP address and is displayed as a number.

Step 3: Disable Automatic Configuration Changes

Scroll down until you reach the Advanced Settings section.

Within this section, ensure that Disable Defaults is enabled.

Important: Enabling Disable Defaults prevents TetherX from automatically applying its own recommended settings to the camera. This ensures that any custom camera configuration remains unchanged.

Step 4: Check the Force TCP Setting

Another setting that may require adjustment is Force TCP.

If the camera experiences any of the following issues:

  • Unstable video streams
  • Intermittent video loss
  • Delayed video
  • General streaming performance issues

Try disabling Force TCP.

When Force TCP is disabled, TetherX will use UDP for video streaming instead. In some network environments, UDP can provide improved performance and greater stream stability compared to TCP.
